DAILY DEVOTIONAL TIME FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES
In a spirit of growing in our spirituality at all times, below is an outline for a daily devotion you can use individually or as a
family. Consider beginning this time with some centering music. Listen to a worshipful song—this can be music you
listen to, or a music video you watch.
Opening Sentences:
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalm 118:24
Doxology (spoken or sung):
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, you heavenly host: Praise
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Scripture Readings:
The Daily Office schedule (see below) is a guide for daily Scripture readings. Read them all, or just a few. Do not feel
obligated to read them all. After you read a passage, consider what it is about, and how it applies to you. If you are reading
this devotional as part of family time, use the Scripture lessons as a catalyst for discussion. If you run across Scripture that
is troubling or difficult to understand - contact Pastor Andy. He loves to discuss the Bible!
Prayer:
Your prayers may include (but not be limited to) elements of confession (asking for forgiveness),
thanksgiving (expressing gratitude for your blessings), and intercession for yourself and others (asking for God's help,
protection, provision, wisdom, etc.).
The Lord's Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Affirmation of Faith: Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under
Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and is seated on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from where He will come to judge the
living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the one holy universal Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the
resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.
